Though set in the ravaged ruins of New York, Tom Clancy’s The Division will reportedly not feature the entire New York City area.
According to The Examiner, the game will only feature one borough of New York: Midtown Manhattan. This contrasts what we’ve seen leading up to this point from Ubisoft, including an E3 2013 demo set in Brooklyn that will reportedly not appear in the launch version of The Division.
Magnus Jansen, creative director on Tom Clancy’s The Division, told The Examiner that Midtown Manhattan was chosen “because of the one-to-one re-creation” and because of the way the pandemic happened. According to Jansen, the Manhattan area is a huge experience and “more than enough to sink your teeth into.”
No word on whether the Brooklyn area or others might come to The Division sometime later as an expansion pack or downloadable content.
