Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond online and its a little strange. The trailer itself was good in my opinion but the music not so much. In the background you can hear “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys which I believe it was not the best song for this trailer. It’s a Star Trek movie, not a Fast & Furious movie.
I really don’t understand why they chose this song, but maybe there is one reason for it, but I’ll talk about this later. Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness both have great epic songs in the trailers. Going from a epic music to a rap rock style is a huge step. I believe because of this song the trailer has so many dislikes on YouTube.
I was saying above that there might be a reason for this song. Maybe they want to get even more people into the cinemas than they usually do. Not just the Star Trek fans, but also people who like action-comedy style movies. From the trailer it seems that there is probably too much comedy in this sequel. With epic sci-fi songs, you get in the theaters only the ones who are interested in those kind of movie style. Add more comedy and you will also get the ones who are just watching it for fun. It is about the money? Star Trek made $385.7 million and Star Trek Into Darkness made $467.4 million and I don’t think that Star Trek Beyond will make less that that. Anyway the trailer is action packed with epic space battles and survival scenes.
Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters on 22 July, 2016.
