Alien: Covenant may have secured its female lead. Katherine Waterston is being reported as starring opposite Michael Fassbender, who returns as the android David after surviving the events of Prometheus.
Elizabeth Shaw, as played by Noomi Rapace, also survived that picture but if Waterston’s casting is any indication, this film won’t be following Shaw’s story, at least not in the main plot. Noomi Rapace “will only appear briefly” in the film despite the initial idea for Prometheus 2 being a road trip-type film with Rapace and Fassbender’s characters venturing to the homeworld of the Engineers.
This is the synopsis that has been reported so far for Alien: Covenant:
“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Katherine Waterston appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “Inherent Vice” and recently played Michael Fassbender’s ex in “Steve Jobs”. She’s represented by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment
I cannot wait for this movie to hit the theaters!
Alien: Covenant will premiere on 6 Octomber, 2017.
