J.J. Abrams Wants To Make Star Wars More Accessible To Women

The director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoke about the epic sci-fi saga during an interview with Good Morning America, saying that “Star Wars being just a boys thing is something I want to change”.

I was really hoping this could be a movie that mothers could take their daughters to as well,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to kids seeing this movie and seeing themselves in it, and seeing that they’re capable of doing things they never thought possible.

The filmmaker also went on to say that he had second thoughts about taking on the movie, but told it was “too delicious and too exciting to pass up”. “It was something that I loved so much and I thought it would be better just to see it, to go to the theater like everyone else,” Abrams explained, before adding that talking to producer Kathy Kennedy about the project encouraged him to change his mind.
